Lake Jennings Fishing Report

Catfish Season: Another 1,000 pounds of catfish went into the lake this week. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds will be the week of July 8th. Catfish season runs through October.

What’s the Catch? Last weekend, the panfish bite was on fire! Reports of Bluegill and Redear bites from the shoreline. Most reported bites on meal worm and half a nightcrawler. The catfish bite was steady. Catfish were reported on the shady shorelines. Sounds like mackerel and garlic shrimp were reeling them in. Sunset is when the cats are most active, so aim to be here and set-up before the sun sets on Friday and Saturday. The stock will be hungry! The trout bite seems to have slowed which is typical this time of year. The warmer water temps make them lethargic and any that are still left in the lake are likely to become part of the food chain if they’re not caught by clever anglers! No reports of bass this weekend.

Conditions: The current water temperature at the surface is around 73 degrees. The lake is well oxygenated. The shorelines are muddy and more than a few shoes have been lost! Be cautious when fishing from the shoreline. The sun is rising at 5:41 a.m. and setting at 7:59 p.m.

Please be aware of exposed and submerged structure while boating and muddy shoreline around the lake. The lake elevation is 677’. The lake draw is complete. It will remain at the current elevation until construction is complete.
