Harmful Algae Bloom Watch

6-13-2024
Nevada State Parks

Lahontan Reservoir, located in Lahontan State Recreation Area, has been placed under a HAB Watch Advisory due to an active Harmful Algae Bloom.
A recent water test produced low algal toxin concentrations, and has been backed up by visual indicators and satellite imagery. These toxic algae can cause serious health issues for humans and animals.
If you see water that looks discolored or smells bad, stay away. Pets should be kept away from all water bodies under a HAB advisory. For more information on HABs visit https://ndep.nv.gov/.../water.../harmful-algal-bloom-program
