A really nice respite from the cruddy weather and bluefin grind offshore mixing in a day along the coast variety fishing. In zero to light wind and mild seas we passed the day in sublime comfort enjoying the scenic coast catching a few yellows and plenty of coastal favorites.  By days end, in rapidly improving conditions to the west, we headed out again seeking bluefin tuna offshore. As a perfect complement to the day fortune smiled upon our night effort as well. 50-70 pound bluefin were the prize for those choosing to grind it out at the rail from three different schools found throughout the night time/early morning hours. One final day and partial night offer opportunity to target the last thing on our trip list. Trophy bluefin, now comfortably accessible in fantastic weather conditions on the outside, will round out this classic early summer for day run if our good fortune continues. Photos today feature the Matsuno family Ron and his daughter Kira with a brace plus of nighttime bluefin and Kira with a prized, crafty coastal yellowtail.
