The Fall river continues to fish well

5-18-2024
Fly and Field Outfitters

The Fall river continues to fish well. It recently got a fresh stocking of trout and these are often easier to fool than the fish that have been in the river a while. It has been fairly crowded but that should change soon with more of the lakes becoming accessible and some more rivers opening up May 22. Nymphing has been producing fish throughout the day and some of our favorite flies have been hot head balanced leeches, jig leeches, two-bits, zebra midges and eggs. We have had some fish eat chubbies recently as well. Caddis, PMDs, and BWOs should all be in the dry box as we have also been seeing and catching good numbers of rising fish. A dry-dropper setup this time of year is tough to beat. The river below the falls opens up the 22nd and this should help spread out anglers on the fall.
