A Rough Late Evening Trolling Trip After a Monster Morning Blow

4-19-2024
John P Seiler

No board pic tonight and my idiot self forgot a cooler pic after getting caught up in a conversation with the crew before they took off. But what a great group of guys to fish with this evening all the way from Pennsylvania. These guys were already scheduled to fish this afternoon but we still held off until 3pm due to the High winds today.

The lake was most definitely tore up this evening but once we got North of the can line the water was almost the perfect color and the Garmin just lit up with stacked fish 15 to 25 feet down in 30.2 FOW. We pulled bandits behind inline boards 80 to 120 back unassisted with 95 and 100 being our top producers @ 2.1 to 2.2 mph with anything pink and purple. As the evening went on the wind slowly picked up on us again building the waves to 4s and 5s with an occasional 6 footer (Mother Erie tried to kick us off). This evening was a one way troll only as the auto pilot would not hold the 299 at the speed needed going into them, I tried and it was a disaster 🤣, I wanted to turn around badly several times on active schools tonight but no buano as we would pick up 3 or 4 fish in 2 spots on the line we were working. We made one long 4.5 mile troll and picked up 9 fish on our first pass. Decided to pick up and make the run back up for another pass grinding them out up to 14 of there needed 30, ALMOST GOT HALF of them tonight. We lost 6 or 7 behind the boat and short strikes it was getting annoying.

We did the best with what we were delt with trying to turn something into nothing. The guys were happy and we had a blast while out on the big pond. Thanks again fellas for Fishing with Special-Eyes Sportfishing, we really enjoyed your company. Good luck tomorrow with capt. CJ if your able to get out tomorrow. STUPID WIND 🙄

Started out Drifting and picked up 5 and a bunch of shorts, lost our wind and decided to throw the gear out. We did end up making a 4 mile run to a different area to get away from the boats but once we did we could barely keep up with them.  Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. 40TT in front of Stinger Spoons from Fishing Addiction Gear  65 to 70 back  And Flicker Minnow 11's on the other side 80 to 150......
