Arizona Game & Fish Department

Lower Lake Mary - The day use area is closed for the winter season. The lake was completely thawed out on 2/19/2024. Colder temperatures with Wednesday's storm, but warming up toward the weekend. Reminder: The daily bag limit is 4 trout per day and 4 channel catfish per day. Northern pke are unlimited, but must be immediately killed or released. Only boats with a single 10-horsepower motor or a single electric motor or less are allowed on Lower Lake Mary. Fishing has been excellent for rainbow trout. Small lures (inline spinners such as Joe’s flies), flies (#10 bead head Simi-seal leech in black and olive, and #12 prince nymph), and bait are all working well. Ice may be present.

Upper Lake Mary - Statewide limits apply for the fish species in Upper Lake Mary, check your regulations (page 6). Upper Lake Mary is likely to be mostly thawed this week. Walleye and northern pike may be starting to stage at the inflows into the lake. The Newman Canyon inflow has been pulsing in water during the afternoon from snow melt. Newman Canyon peaked at 0.14 cfs on 2/19/2024 at 2:45 p.m., with the most recent reading of 0.02 cfs on 2/20/2024 at 9 a.m.
