The fishing for Salmon was hard today due to the wind that came up strong in the morning. The few boats who went out of Santa Cruz fished near 36'51/121'57 and hooked a few fish. There was a 20 pound gilled and gutted weighed in today from Soquel Hole. The few boats who went out of Moss Landing came back in due to ugly conditions at the Mile Buoy. There were 2 boats working near Monterey that I heard of but I did not get any reports of fish. The wind came up and almost all the boaters went home. The wind is expected to be from 10-15 knots Monday and then blow Tue-Wed and get better Thursday. We are in a unsettled weather pattern and there is a swell running. It looks like the best place to try may be the Soquel Hole due to the wind and swell direction. The fish that were hooked today came from 80-120 feet down.

The fishing for Salmon was good for the anglers who worked the Monterey area that I posted on the 11th of April. The Salmon are big and anglers are loosing fish due to bad knots, weak line, and barb less hooks. I fished near the fleet in Monterey at 36'39/121'59 to 36'38/121'58. We ended up with one 30 pound fish that my Dad caught and lost many others. There were some boats who had limits early fishing Krippled Anchovies, Blue...... Read More
