Hello! It's me, reminiscing about a memorable catch of rainbow trout from a couple of seasons ago. As the holidays and the New Year approach, I thought it would be a good time to provide an update on our trout plants.

In the past, the limit for trout was ten fish, but due to both the caddis fly issue, the current bag limit is 5. We now receive trout once a week, a change from the previous monthly stocking when the limit was ten. These rainbow trout are brought in from the Willow Beach Hatchery and are stocked at Davis Camp Community Park and Rotary Park.

The hatchery typically stocks one or two sites each week from October to March. Anglers have the best luck when fishing within 3 to 4 days after the stocking. After that period, it's advisable to explore the areas where the trout may have migrated.

Given the low water levels during this time of year, most anglers prefer shore fishing. For bait enthusiasts, nightcrawlers or various colors of power bait are effective. Trout jigs and spinners are excellent alternatives when traditional bait isn't producing results. Remember, timing is key—try your favorite jig or spinner if the bait isn't yielding any bites.
