Paul Clouse and Al Hurwitz trolled Los Vaqueros Reservoir on 12/14/23. We were rewarded with two beautiful Striped Bass early in the morning. We were flat-line trolling Jointed Rapalas and a Berkley Jointed Flicker Shad directly through a surface Striper “boil” when these terrific fighters hit (see the photos below). The action slowed down for the rest of the day, with our catching only two more Stripers and one DFG Rainbow. We caught no Mt Lassen Rainbows today, but expect they will begin hitting in future weeks as the aggressive Trout plants continue. The lake level is well up, the water clarity good, and the surface temperature around 58 degrees.
