This fall, anglers have had success catching trout and whitefish in the Wallowa River. Fishing for those two species can be good throughout the winter and anglers can be successful using a variety of techniques including drifting nymphs and casting spinners.‌

A few steelhead have been caught on the Wallowa River already this year, and more should be available as the winter progresses.‌

Remember, Chinook salmon, coho salmon, and bull trout encountered while fishing for other species cannot be harvested and must be released.
