The Little Truckee River has been experiencing up and down flows

Water Conditions
The Little Truckee River has been experiencing up and down flows for most of this month. Water levels can be unpredictable right now. Some days it’s super low then the next day they release a ton of water out of Stampede Reservoir. This can really confuse the fish, so try fishing elsewhere until conditions level out here. Current flows on the Truckee River are 210 CFS between Boca and Stampede.
Tips for the Week
With the flows being inconsistent lately, its recommended for anglers to wait until the river stablizes for a day or two before fishing. If you plan to fish the Little Truckee River after flows have stablized, hopper dropper fishing can be a great technique for anglers to use to present that large meal on top for the fish, but also keep their attention below the surface.
Suggested Flies
Some suggested flies to try on the Little Truckee River this week are Bionic ant, Morrish hopper in tan, baby boy hopper, sweet peas and peach’s and cream.
