The Virginias are also still producing some nice fish, mostly for the anglers who are getting away from the shore in tubes or kayaks but there are some fish also being caught from the shore. Hook up baits, sierra slammers and Thomas Bouyants are all doing well up there as are mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. For flies try wooly buggers, seal buggers, stillwater nymphs, soft hackles and zug bugs.

Jim Akenson is a wildlife biologist, book author and Conservation Director for the Oregon Hunters Association. He invested much of his career in researching the Northwest's predators.
