Smallmouth Action on The Clearwater River

Look who put the swat down on the Smallies! This summer I have ended more than one guide trip thinking that Smallmouth Bass fishing was off that day or the bite was slow. Then the very next day or a couple days later, my wife Lacy McClintock Wilcox and I go for a float down the river sometimes even the very same stretch and I watch her do very well! As a guide I need to see this. It helps me realize what the difference in technique is or what was lacking from the client's presentation of the jig that made the fishing or bite seem so off. Then I realized that I repeatedly ( like 30 times I swear) reminded the client of what to do and what not to do anymore and just keep floating down river to the next new opportunity. It's very comforting and refreshing to put Lacy up in the front and watch her absolutely go to work on the fish proving that it was definitely the clients lack of ability, consistency, listening, and allowing laziness to infect their cast and presentation. I can't say enough how much after a tough day I appreciate seeing it done well, correct and consistently done right to really see how good fishing is. Thank you Baby, I need that. You have become a jigging machine that yet this year I haven't seen anyone else fish as good as you have. So here's to another winter of golden fillets and fish tacos! I love you
