EAST WALKER RIVER

The East had dropped to 1180cfs right now and is still off color. We haven’t talked to anyone whose ventured down there this past week, the flows are still making the river extremely difficult to fish. I would expect the flows to be very high at least for another month or so.

SCEIRINE RANCH

We haven't had anyone on the ranch lately. Hopefully, when the flows come down at some point, we will have some good reports for you.

HUNEWILL POND

The pond fished very well this week. There were only a few anglers out there, but they all did well. Stripping leeches and Stillwater nymphing small midge patterns were the hot ticket. There are plenty of openings in the upcoming weeks if you want to get out there.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR

The Reservoir hasn't quite yet taken off. There's a few fish being caught here and there, mostly from shore, but they are fairly few and far between. The fish that are being caught are mostly on bait, and some of them have been pushing the 5-pound range. There has been some perch being caught down near the dam, mostly in the 1 to 1.5-pound range. Power bait, pinched crawlers, and mice tails have been producing a few fish up there.

KIRMAN LAKE

We're still getting some good reports from Kirman, lots of nice brookies being caught with scud, leech patterns, and a few hanging midges from indicators. The larger fish we've been hearing about are pushing 20 inches and fighting very hard. It sounds like much of the road from Junction to Kirman is still very muddy and wet with lots of snow melt water draining down the road. It's of course not impassable but it's a little more difficult than usual.

TWIN LAKES

The Twins are still pretty much the hot spot around here lately with lots of reports coming in from anglers catching and releasing 10 to 15+ fish per day. Lots of pan-sized fish with some good 3 to 6-pounders thrown in here and there. Anglers are catching fish trolling with Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants, and Speedy Shiners, as well as casting lures from the shore and bait like Power Bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers, and inflated nightcrawlers. Haven't heard any news from any fly anglers lately but there should be some good action near the inlets stripping streamers like Twin Lakes Specials, wooly buggers, seal buggers, leeches with soft hackle or zug bug droppers.

WEST WALKER RIVER

We haven't heard any rumblings about the West lately. The water is very high and off color, so it will likely be difficult to fish for a while. We'll let you know when the conditions improve.

VIRGINIA LAKES

We did get one report this week from Big Virginia, the angler sent us a message saying they have made one or two passes from Little V to Big V with the blowers, so it was a fairly easy hike to get to Big V. There was 3 to 5 feet of compacted snow on top of the ice, and he needed an extension on his auger to get all the way through to the water. He was able to catch and release 25 fish in about 3 hours, mostly in the 14 to 16-inch range but a few were pushing 24". Most of the fish were caught on tube jigs with a few on crawlers. He seemed to think the ice/snow was melting fast, so it shouldn't be too long for those lakes to be ice-free. Many thanks to that angler for passing on this information!
