San Pablo Fishing Report

6-8-2023
San Pablo Reservoir Staff

Paul Clouse of Lafayette and Al Hurwitz of Saratoga trolled San Pablo Reservoir long and hard on June 8, 2023.
Our seven-hour effort produced only one bite and one small Spotted Bass. We used Jointed Rapalas (Shad Raps), Rooster Tails, Panther Martin Spinners, and Speedy Shiners trolled 8-15 feet below the surface in 15-30 foot water columns. Scent was applied to all the lures. All trollers we spoke with were having a tough time. Bait fisherman had better success near the shoreline. We were not sure why the trolling bite turned off so severely, since there were no adverse fishing or weather considerations at play. Water clarity was fair with a surface temperature of 65-67 degrees.
The staff was very helpful and courteous in getting us on and off the water.
We’ll give it another try soon!,
All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz

Paul Clouse of Lafayette and Al Hurwitz of Saratoga trolled San Pablo Reservoir on June 1, 2023, looking for both Rainbow Trout and Spotted Bass. We hooked up with four Rainbows and two Spots. Regrettably, the largest of the bunch, a 3 plus pound Mt. Lassen Rainbow, didn’t stay pinned and spit the hook at the side of the boat after a very nice fight. So, no photos this week! The troll was made very difficult by heavy 15-25 mph winds...... Read More
