Fish Report for 6-2-2023
Isabella has increased to 77 percent of capacity and continues to fill
6-2-2023
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
Isabella has increased to 77 percent of capacity and continues to fill. Our contacts reported the overall fishing has been improving. The crappie bite moved in the right direction this week. Crappie have been coming on jigs and live shiners in 12 to 20-feet of water around South Fork. While boat anglers scored slabs dragging shad patterned baits. Bass have been found near structure with trout imitation baits, jigs, large plastic worms, and crankbaits. Thousands of pounds of trout were stocked two weeks ago for the 32nd Annual Lake Isabell Fishing Derby. The trout bite has been consistent with trout jigs, Garlic scented Powerbait, spinnerbaits, and GULP! Pinched Crawlers. Boat anglers running leadcore line with needlefish, Tasmanian Devils and flicker shad are finding some takers. There have been over 70 tagged trout caught for the Isabella Trout Derby which runs thru June 4, 2023. We had reports of anglers fishing for trout and finding whiskerfish on their line. The Catfish action is solid with frozen shad, Triple S Dip Bait, chicken liver and nightcrawlers.
