The weather was beautiful, the catching side of fishing was good and the Memorial Weekend was enjoyed by many.  Silver Lake is as full of water as we have ever seen and it looks like we have a lot more coming our way, as the record winter continues to melt in the high country.  So far all this water is playing nicely and staying in the banks and we are happy to have it.  Horsetail Falls at the far end of Silver Lake is flowing at full capacity which is helping in filling up Silver Lake and Grant Lake as well.  With all this run off, it makes the catching side of fishing a little difficult, as it leaves a lot of good and bad things floating in the water for the fish to nibble on and is also dumping in really cold water, making the depth that the fish are at a challenge to figure out.  Fishermen who are working at changing the depths that they are fishing at are seeing the best results, as those fishies are looking for a little warmer waters.  Anglers this past week have seen good results on the standard baits of Power Baits with Garlic, Worms, Mice Tails and some of the Golden State Tubes and Minnows.  Work on changing up your leader length and depths you are fishing at and you should see some good results as Silver Lake was stocked twice this past week and once each of the two previous weeks, so there are some good fish to be had.

A special Thanks to Jeremy and the Crew at Ernie’s Tackle Shop in the Village of June Lake for putting on another spectacular Monster Trout contest this past weekend, which was delayed from the Opener due to all the snow and ice around the Loop.  Lots of fish were caught and weighed in at Ernie’s throughout the weekend and lots of prizes were handed out from all our great businesses in the Loop.  An Awesome long time running contest and a Thankless Job!!  Thank You Jeremy and Ernie’s for always making this contest a special one!!
