EAST WALKER RIVER
The East is running at about 850cfs right now. There have been a few anglers fishing some of the calmer water on the Walker and having some limited success, mostly with streamers and heavy weight. We haven’t had a lot of reports but it’s good to know that there are some good fish in there and that a few anglers are hooking them up. I would still recommend being extremely careful as the flows are fast and kind of dangerous.
SCEIRINE RANCH
Unfortunately you can’t get to the Sceirine right now due to the road closure, we’ll keep you posted when we hear anything about the road re-opening.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
We haven’t had much for good reports lately from the Reservoir, it’s still very low and muddy. There has been a few anglers fishing from the shore down near the dam with very limited success these last few days. The weather is supposed to be getting a little warmer this week so we’ll have to see if the lake comes up a bit when the snow starts to melt again.
KIRMAN LAKE
We haven’t heard anyting from Kirman yet, my guess is that the road is still mostly covered with a pretty good amount of snow and the lake itself is likely still frozen. When we hear anything from up there we’ll pass it along.
TWIN LAKES
Most of the good reports we’ve been getting this past week have come from the Twins, they’re picking up some nice fish, including some nice browns, both trolling and fishing bait and casting lures from the shore. Some of the fish we’ve seen have been caught on Smithwick lures, Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters and for bait there’s been some good luck with mice tails, power bait and inflated crawlers.
WEST WALKER RIVER
We didn’t get any reports from the West yesterday, it’s running extremely high and is very muddy. These conditions will likely last more than a month. We’ll let you know when the conditions improve.
VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginia Lakes Road has not been cleared of snow yet, it may be a while before the road is cleared and you can get up there, again, we’ll let you know when it is accessible.
If you would like to receive this report via email, drop me a line at reidfly63@yahoo.com and I'll get you on the list!
RANDOM INFORMATION:
Highway 338 in Nevada is still closed to vehicles so the Nevada side of the East Walker is still not accessible. We’ve heard they have started working on fixing the road so hopefully it will be completed soon and re-open.
