Bridgeport Fish Report - April 30, 2023

Kens Sporting Goods Staff
EAST WALKER RIVERThe East is running at about 1050cfs right now. There were a few anglers who braved the high water yesterday and a couple of them were even able to hook up and/or land a fish or two. It was very difficult with the high flow so they searched out some of the wider, calmer water to try and had limited success. The largest fish we heard of being landed was 18” on a streamer. This type of flow is definitely not for everyone, if you do venture down there be extremely careful wading as it will be very
dangerous.
dangerous.
SCEIRINE RANCH
Unfortunately you can’t get to the Sceirine right now due to the road closure, we’ll keep you posted when we hear anything about the road re-opening.
BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR
Anglers fishing the Reservoir yesterday had limited success, we had lots of anglers reporting no fish at all but there were still some who caught some nice fish up to nearly 5 pounds. We also heard about a few perch being caught which was a bit of a surprise with the colder water right now. The fish we did hear about were caught on different baits ranging from Rapalas to crawlers to power bait. It sounded like the shore anglers had better success than the boat anglers. The water clarity on the Reservoir right now is pretty bad, with the lower water levels and the wind it has made it pretty muddy down there. At some point the water levels will rise, this will help the clarity and the fishing will likely improve as well.
KIRMAN LAKE
We haven’t heard anyting from Kirman yet, my guess is that the road is still mostly covered with a pretty good amount of snow and the lake itself is likely still frozen. When we hear anything from up there we’ll pass it along.
TWIN LAKES
The Twins seemed to have a bit more success than some of the other waters in the area yesterday, we saw quite a few fish up to 5+ pounds and even had another 5 pounder come in from the Upper Twin just this morning. We heard about fish being caught with power bait, Kastmasters and Rapalas as well as quite a bit of success with mini jigs. The ice that’s left on the lakes up there is melting fast and I’d expect it to be gone within the next couple days.
WEST WALKER RIVER
We didn’t get any reports from the West yesterday, it’s running extremely high and is very muddy. These conditions will likely last more than a month. We’ll let you know when the conditions improve.
VIRGINIA LAKES
The Virginia Lakes Road has not been cleared of snow yet, it may be a while before the road is cleared and you can get up there, again, we’ll let you know when it is accessible.

RANDOM INFORMATION:
Highway 338 in Nevada is still closed to vehicles so the Nevada side of the East Walker is still not accessible. We’ve heard they have started working on fixing the road so hopefully it will be completed soon and re-open.
