Diamond Valley Lake Fish Report for Easter Sunday

Lake Elevation: 1740
Surface water temp : 60 - 64 degrees
Fish Plants: Rainbow trout, 2,400 pounds April 19th.
Lake Hours: 6:30 am - 6:00 pm.
Weather: Most of the week has been overcast with light fog that has been reluctant to burn off?? until 9am.
Bass: Bass fishing has been holding strong at DVL. Most successful anglers have been pounding the shore lines in the 5- 20 foot range with Senkos, Ikas, brush hogs, and lizards using Texas or dropshot rig. Most anglers focusing on the beds have found that gravely and sandy areas have been ideal spots to find the spawning fish. There has been some reports of post spawn fish being caught on crank baits or swim baits off the points.???? Most bass have been up on beds in the backs of coves or along the dams. Rawson cove has been the most reported bass cove this week, with the third cove of the shore line fishing area, the north corner of the east dam and around the saddle dam also producing well. Shoreline anglers have had consistent catches, but with less success than the boat anglers.
The ABA tournament on the 7th was a testament to the ??strength of DVL bass fishing. James Emmett and Josh Moreno took top honors with a 28.13 pound bag and 8.64 pound kicker. Rick and Kyle Grover got the second spot with a 25.18 pound limit their biggest at 6.16 pounds. Team Blanchard and Bisson came in third with a 23.72 pound pound limit.
Gina of San Bernardino got a 4.83 pound bass in 15 feet of water in the third cove of shore fishing. She was using a night crawler. Carlos Garcia got a 6.3 pound bass while fishing the west dam with plastic worms. Art Ducusin of Murrieta got a 5.34 pound bass in the second cove of shore line fishing with a plastic worm. Carlos Garcia of Winchester got a 6.7 pound bass in Rawson Cove fishing with plastic worms. Fidel Sandoval of Lake Elsinore got a 5.21 pound Bass just east of Bathroom two. He was drop shotting a margarita mutilator Roboworm. 10 year old Kaelyn Huberts got the biggest bass of her life this week. She was fishing in 10 feet of water, near restroom 2, with a fat Ika, and nailed a 4.88 pound bass.
Trout: Trout fishing has been holding steady this week. Shoreline and boat anglers have been getting limits with Kastmasters, Power Bait and Roostertails being the top baits. The marina has been the top spot for stockers. Holdovers have made appearances on the west dam, east dam, and saddle dam. Most holdover trout have been pulled from 10- 25 feet either by trolling spoons or drifting night crawlers. Art Ducusin of Murrieta got a 5.7 pound trout in the second cove of shore line. He was fishing with a Powerworm. George Trumbull got a 5.6 pound trout while fishing from shore with green Powerbait. Ray Lominario of Fontana got a 7.5 pound trout fishing from shore with a Berkley nymph.
Striper: There were no striper reports this week.
Catfish: Jason Dlivares of Riverside got a 4 pound catfish 20 feet down near restroom 1. He had a Texas rigged worm.??
Panfish: ??Art Ducusin of Murrieta got a 1.70 pound crappie in the first cove of shore line with a spinner.

Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.
Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: DVL would like to congratulate Mike Long of Poway who became the new Largemouth bass record holder this week with a 16.43 pound bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.
Lake Record Crappie: 3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.
Lake Record Blue Gill: John Arganda, of?? Menifee, broke the lake pan fish record by bringing in a 3.06 pound blue gill. He got it on a night crawler fishing near the saddle dam.
NEW Lake Record Catfish January 19, 2007: Congratulations to Doug Hagadorn of Valley Center! He caught a 32.80 pound catfish. He was fishing at 60 feet with a Pig N' Jig around the first island on the north shore.
Lake Record Trout, March 12, 2005: Shawn Luhmann got a 11.30 pound rainbow trout on the shoreline fishing area.
