Fish Report for 3-1-2023
Quick update on the Upper
3-1-2023
The Fly Shop
A quick update on the Upper, with all of the snow lately the river is surprisingly clear and not has high as you may expect. With all of the snow, however, we expect with the next rain event this will boost the flows and blow it out. We can't recommend traveling up Interstate 5 at the moment. You should take a look at wading the Lower Sacramento as some large fish are being landed lately. If you should choose to fish the Upper, most fish are coming to small black midge and Baetis patterns. Both red and black Zebra Midges in #18 - 20 are always a good idea along with your favorite Baetis nymph like a black Micro May, Two Bit Hooker, or any of the dark Perdigon patterns. Watch the forecast driving up the hill and it would not be a bad idea to carry chains.
