FISH REPORT
Stocking: Last week's trout stock was delayed due to weather. We expect the lake to be stocked this week with 1,500 pounds of rainbows from Wright's Rainbows in Idaho. Another 1,500 pounds of trout will be stocked the following week of March 6th. That's 3,000 pounds in two weeks!
What's the catch? It was a slow weekend with rain and the chill in the air, but those that braved the weather were rewarded. The campground shoreline and Hermit Cove were best for trout. According to anglers, mini jigs and powerbait in green/yellow varieties were reeling them in. The bass bite is picking up. We've seen multiple bass pulled from the t-dock and Siesta Point. Plastics and drop shot were working best. It's always a good time to fish the various sunfish species! Lots of nibbles in Half Moon Cove (they love the tules shelter). Meal worms will usually encourage a bite, but a piece of nightcrawler also works. The catfish bite has been spotty, a couple here and there, but we expect the bite to pick up when the lake hours change with spring forward next month. You can always count on the catfish biting at sunset.
Conditions: The lake is full and the water is well oxygenated throughout the water column with the temperature being 57 degrees. Ideal conditions for trout! The sun is rising at 6:17 a.m. and setting at 5:45 p.m. We're looking forward to sunny weather this weekend with temperatures in the mid-sixties.
