Fish Report for 11-25-2022
Water temperatures falling into the low sixties
11-25-2022
Chad Burton and Chris Borden
The lake remained near 34 percent of capacity with water temperatures falling into the low sixties. Another trout plant the day before Thanksgiving made Castaic a popular spot for shore anglers, and most of the action occurred near the Marina with trout anglers doing well on dough baits, Mouse Tails, and minijigs. Many of the trout weighed in at almost two pounds. All those trout attracted plenty of striper and bass, and big bait angles went after them with magnum topwater, glide baits, and Huddlestons. Numerous double-digit striper and a few huge bass have been reported. Large and smallmouth anglers worked finesse baits on main lake points, and bluff walls for decent fishing. Bass were also reported near the areas with cobble stone. Striper took trolled flies, and they ate cut baits by the forebay buoy line. Catfish anglers soaked chicken liver, dip bait, and cut baits in the coves immediately east of the marina for some good catches.
