The courtesy docks have been pulled for the season. The metal wedge dock at the Strawberry Marina boat ramp is still in place for boat anglers. Morning and evening temperatures are bitter, but the fall fishing remains good to great and the reservoir is 72% full. Boat anglers are catching high numbers of cutthroat trout using white tubes paired with a 1/4-ounce ball head or tube head jig (fished with or without a stinger/trailer hook) and tipped with nightcrawler, chub meat or sucker meat. Actively casting the jig and slowly reeling the moment it hits the water (begins to sink) is working very well. Nose-rigged tube jigs are a good alternative to traditional jig heads, particularly when fish are constantly short striking tubes (only biting the tube skirt). White, olive, chartreuse and black-colored wooly bugger and leech patterns — fished with or without a nymph trailer — are also working very well for fly and conventional anglers (fly and bubble technique).
