8-5-2022
The Fly Shop
The McCloud continues to be very murky. Also, PG&E and the Forest Service will be working on the road down to Ash Camp to fix the slide. Pedestrian access will be closed until they have finished which is projected to be some time in December. If you do go try Black flies like Rubberlegs, Micro Mays, Two Bit Hookers and X-Mays are your best bet in low visibility. You can get right on top of fish without worrying too much about spooking them. Euronymphing / high sticking the pockets and seams is a good option. Large sculpin patterns fished in the tailouts can likewise get you onto fish.
