Flows came up with warmer temperatures and seemed to have topped out at around 115cfs. They seem to be coming down again after today getting up to about 100cfs. Temps are in the mid 50's in the mornings, and seem to get up to around 63 in the afternoon. This is pretty much as good as this place gets. I spent most of the last week down here and in case you couldn't tell this is my favorite place to fish in Mammoth. It's just the awe inspiring beauty of this place and the fact that you can hike about a half hr and you will almost never see another person! It's been fishing well the last couple of weeks, but the drakes are starting to wind down, leaving mostly some Baetis spattered throughout the morning and early afternoons and some larger Caddis. Dry or dry dropper is the way to go, most of the fish we've been getting have been in the shallow riffles or in the seams near the deeper pools and tailouts. The fish are getting a bit more picky when it comes to drifts, which is what always happens after the crowds show up. The best fishing is away from the campgrounds but I've been getting lucky without having to hike my clients in very far.
