Hi Gang,

We got down to the zone that we would begin our yellowtail fishing late on Monday afternoon. We had good sign of fish on a couple different spots and had good fishing overall. The grade was mostly 18 to 30 pounds with a few bigger. The next day was similar as the day prior and we again had very good yellowtail fishing. The grade was the same with most of our fish over 18 pounds and a small percentage in the 15 to 16 pound range. Everything got bit. The surface iron was very productive and the JRI DW1 and Stinger jigs were the hot ticket. The yo yo jig technique had flashes of glory and the JRI 66 heavy in blue and white and mint green was getting a lot of fish. The tried and true flylined sardine definitely had its place and the guys that were diligent with 30# fluorocarbon and a #1 J hook had great success. The dropper loop was getting bit as well and the 60# spider hitch with a 3/0 hook, 16oz. sinker, and a nose hooked sardine produced its fair share of fish. We had a mix of gulf grouper as well and landed about 10 over the 2 days. Sitting on the anchor, seeing yellows snaking in the chum most of the day, and catching fish on any technique you choose was a real treat. Everyone is stoked. We will be fishing our way up the coast today. Our weather is nice. Thanks for checking in. Life is good, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
