The first of two one and one half days was a success taking full advantage of the local bluefin opportunity while mixing in some much appreciated daytime action on kelp paddy yellowtail. As has been the case with these bluefin since April there is no shortage of fish to look at and try for. The trick is to find the right ones; the ones that want to stick with the boat and bite. In that respect we found our zone at least once or twice a night which is all it takes. Concluding the first run with a few stops for a couple of three handfuls of 30 - 170 bluefin, and one opportunistic opah, we headed in for a quick respite before venturing out tonight of the next 1.5 day run. Many thanks to charter master David Hilton for his exemplary work "herding cats" in preparation for his successful run. What a great group of individuals all of whom focused on what matters most - catching fish while having fun. Photo for the voyage features Royal Star angler Abel Murillo with his personal best, this beautiful, 172 pound Pacific Bluefin Tuna.
