Puerto Morelos Fish Report- The Marina El Cid, Cancun to Cozumel Area
10-29-2009
Larry Edwards
According to the Fleet Manager, Armando Gutierrez, the bite this week
reflected some off season sailfish action for the boats that elected
to fish the 6-8-hour fishing days. The overall combined fish counts
averaged out at 5.5 fish per boat, per day, that included a 7 fish
variety for the week and reflected 3 sailfish, 38 bonito, 13 king
mackerel, 11 red snapper, 3 grouper, 6 triggerfish and 15 Giant
Atlantic barracuda for the 16 days of fishing effort. All in all, a
good fishing week for the anglers.
Puerto Morelos Climate: Partly cloudy days but warm temps, ranging
from 72 nights to 90 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Light tropical surface breezes to about 10 knots
with sea temps at 85-86 degrees throughout the area
Best Bait/Lure: The un-rigged ballyhoo worked best on the sailfish
and was also productive on most of the other trolled fish species
this week.
Bait Supply: We have never experienced any bait supply issues in
this area as the ballyhoo are seemingly always available.
