The Metolius is fishing well

5-6-2022
Fly and Field Outfitters

The Metolius is fishing well. May will bring about more dry fly activity and on any given day you may see PMD’s, BWO’s, and a variety of caddis. In a few weeks Green Drake activity should pick up as well. This is a very fun hatch to fish on the Met and can produce great action while many other anglers are focused on salmon flies on the Deschutes. Nymphing remains the most consistent method for success and a golden stone followed by a caddis or mayfly imitation is a great way to go. For targeting Bulls swinging large streamers or fishing them under an indicator is a good way to go. Don’t forget there's still a bit of time until the headwaters above Allingham bridge open on May 22nd. The month of May is always fun on the Met and fishing should only get better and better as spring progresses.
