The Crooked River had the flows bumped about 100cfs on tuesday 4/26 from around 140 to 240cfs. They will likely be adjusting the flows over the next week to find an adequate summer level. With this being said if you have other options for fishing over the next week, I would probably opt for those. The fish will take a bit of time to adjust to the new flows and find their new feeding lanes. This doesn’t mean you won’t catch fish on the Crooked, but it may be more difficult than normal as the fish figure out the new flows. Before the flows were adjusted, nymphing small midge and BWO patterns was effective, as well as some BWO dries. I suspect this to be the case again when the flows even out for a while. Scuds were also producing fish before the flows spiked. It won’t take long for the fish to adjust and fishing should only continue to improve as Spring moves along.
