The Crooked river has been fishing fair. It is still running at right around 50 CFS so it's best to focus your efforts in the deeper sections of water. Nymphing remains the most consistent method and small red and black midge nymphs have been working best. As the weather warms up a Dry-dropper rig with a chubby on top and a small nymph a couple feet underneath is a really fun way to catch some fish. Keep an eye out for Skwala stoneflies out there as well, they should begin to start getting more active as the weather warms up. If you don’t see the adult skawla’s, a size 12 stonefly nymph can be a good bet out there this time of year. The Crooked should receive a bump in flows before too long and this should get the fish a bit more spread out and active.
