April 8 Update: Salmon chomping...but wind coming this weekend

Welcome to our new Landing Report for Half Moon Bay Sportfishing!  Plan on checking in here every once in a while for updates on regulations, fishing news, gear suggestions and the happenings around the harbor.  So, here we go with the first report...

4-8-22:  The harbor is alive again with charterboats and private boats heading out to the salmon grounds.  Last I heard, the main concentration of fish was on the outside of the Deep Reef area, about 18 miles from the harbor.  Real good fishing going on.  Rockfishing great, too, when calmer weather prevails.  The wind, however, is gunna ramp up for the weekend and maybe into early next week keeping everyone from getting out to the fishing grounds for a few days.  The 2022 salmon season is being decided this week by the feds and state.  The final ruling on the season will be decided by or before April 13.  As soon we receive the final word, I'll post it in a new report.
