Lake Jennings Fishing Report

Lake Jennings Staff

  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout last week. The next stocking will be March 21st where another 2,000 pounds of trout will go into the lake. Only three more stockings left until trout season concludes! For a complete stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch?  Bass, bass and more bass. Anglers reported seeing the big bass in the shallows this weekend, but smaller bass were caught off of the t-dock and by boat. Shiners and Senkos were the baits of choice. We didn't receive any reports of the trout schooling in any one place in the lake, but trout were reeled in by boat and along the shoreline throughout. To fish trout on sunny days, try presenting your bait at their eye level or below them as they won't want to look up. Some of our fishermen have reported success using green, brown, gold, black powerbaits and jigs. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is a cool 59 degrees optimal for rainbow trout. The dissolved oxygen content is consistent throughout the water column. With the time change, the sun will rise around 7:00 a.m. each morning and set around 6:55 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
