Lake Jennings Weekly Report

3-7-2022
Lake Jennings Staff

  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds of trout last week. Because the stocking that was scheduled for the week of February 21st was pushed to last week, we have another 1,500 pounds scheduled to go in the lake this week. Back to back stocking brings our total to 15,000 pounds of trout stocked so far this season! For a complete stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? The trout stock was biting on chartreuse and purple powerbait as well as yellow mini jigs. Reports of bites came in from around the boat dock, Cloister, and Siesta Coves as well as Hermit and Eagle Cove. With the spawn imminent, the bass have been active in the shallow coves throughout the lake. The last couple of weekends have yielded some lunkers including the 11 pound bass pictured below. If you were brave enough to weather the elements Saturday night, the catfish were willing to bite especially around the tower buoy line (please don't anchor to the buoy line!). Nightcrawlers and mackerel were tempting them.  Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is a cool 59 degrees optimal for rainbow trout. The dissolved oxygen content is consistent throughout the water column. The sun has been rising around 6:20 a.m. each morning and setting around 5:45 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Spring Photo Contest: The annual spring photo contest is back! This year's theme is Life on the Lake.
