EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

The ice is off the reservoir and trout fishing is improving. Rainbows are hitting spinners and worms. Crappie fishing has picked up as well, but bass fishing is still slow. Windy afternoons with gusty conditions are expected throughout the month. Check weather conditions and go prepared. Nighttime temperatures are still below freezing, but the campground and all facilities are open.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

The weather forecast is looking nice and clear after Thursday. Daytime temperatures are in the 50s, so the water will stay open. Only a few anglers have been seen on the water. Trout are taking PowerBait, spinners and nymphs. All facilities are open for day trips and camping.

LAKE MEAD 

Striped bass are the main catch on the lake, with bites being reported from Hemenway through the Overton Arm. Chatterbaits are enticing stripers in the 2-3-pound range, but anchovies are always a preferred bait. Largemouth bass are chasing jigs in the shallow, warmer water near Pitch Fork Cove. A few anglers have reported that soft plastic worms in olive colors are producing smallmouth bass in the 1-2-pound class.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Rainbow trout are taking gold Kastmasters and floating Mice Tails at Willow Beach. The fish are providing good action. Catfish are hit and miss on anchovies. With longer days and warmer temperatures ahead, action on Lake Mohave is expected to pick up. At the south end of the lake, stripers are taking anchovies fished from boats. Anglers are reporting the best striper action in the evening hours. Smallmouth bass activity is picking up out of Cottonwood Cove.

LAUGHLIN

Shore anglers are reeling in stripers below Davis Dam. The fish are taking  anchovies, with the best bite taking place in late afternoon and early evening. Boaters are catching stripers weighing up to 7 pounds near Big Bend State Recreation Area. Black bass will be more active as water temperatures increase and they begin to spawn. Rainbow trout action remains steady along the shoreline. The fish are biting on night crawlers, PowerBait, and your favorite spinner.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

The reservoirs are ice-free. Weeds are still visible from shore. Kayak anglers are fishing for healthy rainbows with good results. Action will continue to pick up as water temperatures grow warmer. .

URBAN PONDS

Trout plants are starting to slow as water temperatures begin to rise. Gold spinners, Kastmasters and night crawlers are fooling the trout. Catfish are becoming more active at sunset. The fish are taking stink baits and hotdog slices. A few anglers have reported catching bass on spinnerbaits.
