Hi Gang,
We arrived home from our Masters Invitational 16 day on Saturday morning. Our wifi dropped out after day 6 so we were not able to get reports up. What an awesome trip it was. 13 anglers and we had overall good fishing. Our final count was trip limits of yellowfin tuna and 44 wahoo. Most of our fish were 50 to 100 pounds and we ended up with 42 over 100 pounds. The highlight of the trip was our last morning. At around 0430, we had a ball of caballitos pushed up against the boat by a school of yellowfin. Captain Sam Moore and myself were able to scoop 2 tanks of bait and the school of tuna stayed with the boat. It was wide open for a couple of hours and when the dust had settled, we had 50 yellowfin tuna on the deck that were 50 to 120 pounds. It was incredible. A big thank you to our trip host Steve Smidt for putting this trip together. We had 3 jackpots for the trip. A masters jackpot that had a 3 species point system for tuna, wahoo, and yellowtail. The masters jackpot winner was Corbett Wright. We had a small reel / big fish jackpot for reels smaller that a 20 size and line no bigger than 80 pound test. Our small reel / big fish jackpot went to Dave Rocchi with a 96 pound yellowfin. Our boat jackpot winners are as follows: third place went to John Keeler with a 161.0 pound yellowfin, second place went to Dave Rocchi with a 179.3 pound yellowfin, and first place goes to Corbett Wright with a 193.6 pound yellowfin. Strong work men! I want to thank everyone that fished with us, it was a pleasure. The food all trip was nothing short of amazing thanks to our celebrity chef Brian Torres. Our last nights dinner was beef welligton and lobster. It was 'out of bounds'. We currently have the boat in the shipyard and will be doing maintenence for the next month. Thanks for checking in. Life is good, Captain Bill Cavanaugh and the Intrepid Team
