Jess Ranch Lakes Staff

The summer heat is still here but the overnight temperatures are getting lower ( 59 degrees). Fall temps are predicted in the next five days and that should kick us into gear for the season and the trout should start to move. Even with the hot temperatures, the trout bite was still good with anglers using Power Bait ( especially rainbow, lemon twist and garlic), night crawlers, jigs and lures. Best bite is before 11am with most trout near 2 pounds. Lots of limits went out this week as well. Hot spots included the eastern and western shores and grassy point of lake 3 with the northern and eastern shores of lake 2 also producing limits. Catfish continue to be strong on both lakes with anglers using mackerel, night crawlers and Power Bait ( especially garlic and salmon peach). Catfish average weight was near or over 2 pounds with the largest fish caught weighing 14 pounds and 13 ozs. Hot spots for catfish include the northern shore of lake 3 as well as the eastern shore near the wall of lake 2. Bass are hitting senkos and spinner bait with anglers reporting fish up to 4 pounds. Best spots for bass include the northern shore to western shore of lake 3 near the bridge and the eastern shore of lake 2 near the wall. Bluegill are hitting meal worms and jigs with fish up to 2 pounds. Hot spots for bluegill are the northern shore of lake 3 and the south eastern shore of lake 2. Special Announcement: Beginning October 5, 2009, Jess Ranch Lakes will be open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7AM to 4PM.
