TROUT 
 
Tyrone Beard of T-Bone Tackle was on Melones Feb. 9 after stocking us up on plenty of his numerous Pickle Lures came back with a report of the trout bite being wide open. Tyrone was using his own blue and green Pickle lure behind a Pickle lure dodger, and Tuna scent.

KOKANEE
 
Reports of one or two small Kokanee being caught.
 
BASS 
With the water temperatures coming up on New Melones, bass are being caught higher up in the water column, from 40' up to 10 ft. Anglers have been seeing some pre spawn activity with some bass sunning in the shallow waters. The bite is good using plastic worms, swimbaits, and ned rigs, and only expecting it to be wide open in the coming weeks.
 
CATFISH 
No Reports
 
CRAPPIE
Not much news on the Crappie bite, one here and there scattered about the lake.
 
Other News
 
The Bureau of Reclamation Administration Office is open and selling annual passes for the lake (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat & Sun. only) Museum remains closed, due to lack of help.

Wednesday Jeff from Dept. Fish & Wildlife stopped in to say hi and report that New Melones has had several trout plants the last 3 weeks, between 16 and 20 thousand pounds. This has made for a great trout bite from shore, as well as a fantastic swimbait bite, last angler in the store landed a 10+ lb. bass using swimbaits.
