Lake Sabrina Fish Report

Lake Sabrina Boat Landing Staff

Once again, fishing is getting better and better and the colors are almost better than the catching - WOW! A little cooler this week, but what do you expect it's FALL. The Aspen groves are just exploding with color - golds, yellows, oranges and even a few reds are dotting the landscape. Mornings on a perfectly glassy lake with the colors reflected of the water along with the mountains in the back - CAN'T GET ANY BETTER THIS.

The action at the inlets is picking up a bit with Night Crawlers, Power Bait and Jigs getting the job done. Trolling early morning or late afternoon in the shade with Thomas Buoyants or something along those lines - during the day, you've got to go deep with flashers and a Night Crawler. Drifting using Night Crawlers or Power Bait is still the best by the rock piles. Long-time Lake Sabrina anglers Don McLaughlin and John Petsco read the report and landed a limit enjoying a quiet relaxing day drifting the rock piles.

No new signs of the bear, but we did hear of an Aspendell resident who had a mountain lion dart across the road in front of him down by the Big Trees burn area. Remember - WATCH OUT FOR OUR WILD LIFE - especially in the pre-dawn and pre-dusk hours. Also, during the Fall, keep an extra eye out for the errant photographer - they'll walk right out in front of you with a tripod or set the tripod up in the middle of the road trying for that perfect picture. So keep your speeds down, especially going around the corners on the road from Camp Sabrina to Lake Sabrina or actually anywhere there's color. They'll also abandon their cars in the middle of the road. JUST WATCH OUT AND BE CAREFUL!

Nimrod dried out and has been back down at the docks, so it appears his 'wet' adventure has not deterred from at least getting close to the water.

The campground closures - the following campgrounds will close September 21st: North Lake, Sabrina Camp, Bishop Park Group, Table Mountain Group, Mountain Glenn, and Willows.

Can't even begin to tell you how beautiful it is and the weather - ahhhhhhhh! Rick heard something about a cut-off low (then he got to put a boat out) not sure what that may mean, but you make also want to take a look at www.weather.gov for the Aspendell area forecast toward the latter part of the week. A HUGE thank you to Samantha (Juanita's Grand-daughter) who entered over 400 e-mails over the last week to re-construct the database. We hope you are once again getting the report.

* * * NEWS FLASH * * * Verizon has removed the payphone out in front of Lake Sabrina Boat Landing. Cardinal Village will be your closest option as not very many cell phone providers work in the area; Bishop Creek Lodge, Parchers Resort and Creekside RV Park are your other choices.

With the return of warmer weather the skeeters have returned, so remember the bug juice and COMMIT TO MEMORY, IF YOU PUT ON BUG JUICE, SUN SCREEN OR FOO FOO JUICE, WASH YOUR HANDS! THEN RUB THEM IN WORM GOO, TROUT ATTRACTANT OR POWERBAIT - GET THE OTHER SCENT OFF!

Also, don't forget your sunscreen and dark glasses, the glare on the water is soooo bright, they just might blind your eyeballs. PONCHOS or COATS MAY ALSO BE NEEDED - YOU NEVER KNOW!

ALWAYS PACK A JACKET! ! ! !

You all have a great week and if the stress gets too great, you all know where to come to get some relief! But, remember you don't need to be stressed to come. WE JUST WANT TO SEE YOU SOON!
