Calico Hunt Aboard the Aloha Spirit
9-13-2009
John Thompson
Our last trip of 2009 aboard the ALOHA SPIRIT out of CAPTAIN HOOK'S SPORTFISHING was a great success, with everyone on board by 4:30am. We were greeted by Capt Shawn Steward and his crew, we got our standard safety briefing and plans for the day. The plan was to run down the line and fish the kelps along the coast line for Calico bass. The run took about 2 hours and everyone rigged up and was ready for action, it didn't take long before we were getting some on the deck. The action was pretty steady and quite a few shorts being caught also, then we would get invaded by the Mackeral. We would then move to another area and within 30 minutes the Mackeral or pencil Cuda's would show again. We ended up with 5 around on the Calico and some assorted rockfish, we also had two short White Seabass, it was a great day on the water with some great folks. Thanks to Capt Shawn and his crew, who worked hard all day to ensure all had a good time.
