Fly and Field Outfitters
The Fall River has been fishing great. Access is decent but that may change within the next two weeks. Juneuary is coming to an end and the snow looks like it will return come February. There have been some decent dry fly days recently. Fish are rising to blue wing olives and midges. A stillborn midge or a Griffith's gnat works well to imitate the midges on the surface or in the film. It pays to have a range of blue wing olive sizes and imitations. Having nymphs, emergers, cripples, and duns in sizes 18 - 20 covers all the bases nicely. Subsurface midges will always be important on the fall river. Zebra, disco, biot, and winkers midges all have potential. Size 16 - 18 euro nymphs are a great bet as well. Try to find fish that see less flies than others, covering water improves your chances. When fishing with bugs doesn’t work, switch to meat. Fall River fish love chasing a streamer.
