Lake Jennings Weekly Report

12-6-2021
Lake Jennings Staff

  • Stocking: The lake was stocked with 1,500 pounds the week of November 29th. The next stocking will be 2,000 pounds the week of December 13th bringing the total up to 5,500 pounds so far this season. Ten percent of the stock is 3+ pounds. For a complete stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? The trout catch this weekend was steady throughout. Powerbait and jigs in yellow, chartreuse, brown/gold are getting bites. The stock moved into the coves throughout the lake. If the previous bye week for stocking is any indication, you can probably expect the stock to be a little deeper this weekend. Bass were biting off of the t-dock and Sentry Point on topwater lures and spoons. We had reports of panfish caught in Half Moon and Eagle Cove. Half a nightcrawler and wax worms were encouraging bites. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Winter Break: The lake will be open DAILY from December 17 - January 2 for winter break. Weekend (Friday thru Sunday) hours will remain the same 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday the lake will be open for fishing and boating 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We have special New Years hours--see below for details. Take advantage of free boat launches every Tuesday during Winter Break!
  • Lake Closed 12/25: Please note that the lake will be closed on Christmas Day so our staff can celebrate the holidays with their loved ones. Happy Holidays y'all!
  • New Year, New Moon Fishing: Kick off 2022 the right way! We're open for fishing and boating until 10:00 p.m. New Years Day, Saturday, January 1st. The entrance gate will close at 8:00 p.m. Full sized lanterns required after 5:00 p.m.
  • Last Weekend to Participate in the Toys for Tots Drive!! Through Wednesday, December 15th, we are accepting Toys for Tots to make this holiday season a little brighter for local families. If you’d like to participate, you can drop off a new, unwrapped toy in the Toys for Tots collection box at the bait shop. The bait shop has lots of fishing poles appropriate for children that you can donate as well. Acceptable gifts and toys are any that you would consider appropriate for your own child or relative, as long as it does not contain food or resemble realistic weapons.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is a cool 64 degrees. The sun has been rising around 6:30 a.m. each morning and setting around 4:45 p.m. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
