San Pablo Fishing Report

San Pablo Reservoir
Paul Clouse of Lafayette, Al Hurwitz of Saratoga, and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled San Pablo Reservoir on 11/11/2021. This was our last outing this year before the facility closes for a several month hiatus on 11/14/2021. We were trolling for Rainbow Trout and caught five of them, keeping the two largest each weighing 1.5-2 pounds. Pictured here is Abbey with one of the two larger fish. The Rainbows were caught with Speedy Shiners and Panther Martin Spinners trolled some 5-15 feet below the surface in 30-40 foot water columns. The caught fish were all located in the southern portion of the reservoir just North of the private boat launch. We liberally applied scent to the lures. The northern portion of the lake was stained and contained a moderate amount of floating debris, making effective trolling almost impossible. Water conditions were much better as one progressed toward the southern end of the lake. It was a beautiful Spring-like warm day with very little wind and with a surface water temperature between 61-64 degrees.
We look forward to returning to the reservoir early next year when it reopens. Thank you to all of the staff for helping us get on and off the water so easily. Happy holidays!
All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz
