Lake Jennings Fishing Report

Lake Jennings Staff

  • Stocking: A total of 10,000 pounds of catfish have been stocked this season. The last stock went in last week. We hope you were able to come out to the lake and fish the cats for the extended season. Trout season is up next!
  • What's the catch? Anglers were catching bass from the t-dock this weekend on shiners. There were a few Bluegill and Redear nibbles off the t-dock as well. They were biting on wax worms. We also heard that the panfish bite was good in Eagle and Half Moon Coves. The catfish stock made it's way to Hermit Cove this weekend. Mackerel and dough baits were producing bites. Don't forget to send us pics of your catch! You can tag us @lakejennings on social media or email them to ranger@lakejennings.org.
  • Trout Season: The first trout stocking of the season is typically in mid to late November. The water temperature must decrease to 72 degrees before our first stocking. A stocking schedule and event details on the Trout Opener will be announced in the coming weeks.
  • Carve & Catch - BYOP (Bring Your Own Pumpkin)! We're offering a FREE FISHING PERMIT or day use access if you bring a carved pumpkin on Friday, October 29. We'll light and display the jack-o-lanterns around the bait shop for night fishing. Pumpkins will not be returned and permits are valid for Friday night only. Help the rangers light up the lake and trick out the bait shop!
  • Veterans Day: The lake will be open for Veterans Day on Thursday, November 11th, 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All veterans and active duty fish for FREE with military ID.
  • Conditions: The current water temperature is 72 degrees. The next New Moon is November 4th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Job Openings: We're hiring dockhands at the lake! We are looking for part-time dockhands to work on the dock and help care for and maintain our boat rental fleet. Must have an excellent customer service ethic and work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as well as most holidays. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding this position, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
  • Spooky Camp-O-Ween: It's back! The last 2 weekends at the campground in October are reserved for the frightfully fun, ghoulish good times! The campground is full the first weekend of Spooky Camp-O-Ween, but we still have campsites available for the second weekend of October 29-31. Don't miss out on the campsite decorating contest, creepy crafts, spooky scavenger hunt, and more! Reserve your campsite today.
