The Canary’s and Yellowtail rockfish were really on the bite this morning

Fall is upon us and in September it seems every year things are a little different especially on the bottom fishing reefs. All of the big boats reporting found fishing inside in the shallows really slow this morning so they did exactly what good skippers do they ventured out into the deeper water. Even though it was still a little slow out there they did have some pretty good snaps and brought home some nice looking fish. All in all Lingcod fishing was slower today but the deeper you went to find fish the better it was. The Canary’s and Yellowtail rockfish were really on the bite this morning in water over 170-feet deep. The problem out there was you had to sort thru countless small fish to get to bringing home some respectful sized rockfish for the folks onboard. Then there was the as it seemed never ending China, Copper and Quilback rockfish which we cannot keep anymore in 2021. Some of these fish are really nice sized fish also and back in the water they go. To top off the morning even the crabbing this morning was a bit slower than it has been. Fall is upon us and tomorrow might be a totally different story. Happy Labor Day everyone.

Then the same thing happened from a previous report a few days ago happened & the drift speed went from about a...... Read More
