The Twin Lakes are fishing well. Remember to play fish quickly and help them get back down to cooler waters, especially during the current heatwave. Dry flies have been working well in the mornings and evenings, mainly callibaetis. Try terrestrials during the slower parts of the day. Indicator nymphing is the most productive. Callibaetis, chironomids, dark assassins, birds nests, damsels, and balanced leeches are great choices. Callibaetis and damsels fish best in shallows, leeches and chironomids fish best in deep areas and dark assassins and birds nests seem to be good just about anywhere. Stripping streamers around with a sinking line can be a really fun way to mix things up. I really hope that this is the last time I need to include the word “heatwave” in one of our reports. This summer has been hot, it would be great to have an early start to fall.
