EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR

Anglers are having moderate success for rainbow trout early in the day using spinners and worms fished below a bobber. Fly-fishers are using San Juan worms, gnats, and Woolly Buggers for trout and crappies. With water levels on the low side, aquatic vegetation is making some areas difficult to fish for shore anglers.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR

Fishing with grubs, worms, and crawdad imitations is working well for bass. Crappie fishing has been hit or miss. A few anglers are catching crappies were on green and brown jigs, and on night crawler pieces fished below a bobber. Water levels are low, and weeds are high, fishing is tough along most shorelines. A canoe, kayak, or other vessel will help anglers get past most of the aquatic vegetation.

LAKE MEAD

Striper boils are reportedly being seen in both coves and open water. Try throwing a jerkbait, popper, or other topwater lure when you locate a boil. Green sunfish and bluegill are taking small worms in shallow water throughout Las Vegas Bay. Anchovies fished off the bottom are producing 1- to 2-pound catfish for shore anglers.

LAKE MOHAVE/WILLOW BEACH

Multiple reports of striped bass catches topping 8 pounds have come in from kayakers using swimbaits just north of Willow Beach. Rainbow trout remain active in the early mornings near the fishing pier. Anglers are having success with a combination of worms and PowerBait. Lake Mohave anglers are seeing black bass action on chatterbaits and topwater lures. Striper boils are picking up at the south end of the lake near Katherine Landing and just above Davis Dam.

LAUGHLIN

Striped bass anglers are reporting the best bite beginning at dusk. Anglers throwing anchovies are catching fish between 2 and 4 pounds. Others are having luck with swimbaits and umbrella rigs. Black bass bites are hit and miss, with the most success being reported throughout the lagoon. Try tempting the fish with soft plastics presented near rocks and vegetation.

 WAYNE E. KIRCH WMA

Bass fishing is good throughout the WMA. Seasonal weed growth is making fishing difficult along the shorelines. Weedless hooks will help keep frustration at a minimum but being on the water is the best option. Anglers are reporting some success on both Cold Springs and Haymeadow Reservoirs with most bass coming in at more than 12 inches long. Plastics in the 3- and 4-inch range are working well without color preference.

URBAN PONDS

Bluegill, bass, and catfish are slow to take lures or bait. A few catfish have been hooked on stink baits in the morning or at sunset. Bluegill like meal worms and grubs. Bluegill are hiding on the edges of aquatic vegetation and other structure. Spinnerbaits are still fooling bass at Floyd Lamb in the morning hours.
