Lake Jennings Weekly Report

7-20-2021
Lake Jennings Staff

  • Stocking: With 1,000 pounds of catfish stocked this week that brings our total stock for the season to 4,000 pounds. The next catfish stocking will be the week of August 2nd. For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? The catch the last couple of weekends has been diverse with catfish, bass, and panfish dominating, but we're still receiving reports of trout biting. Catfish are feeding along the shallow banks in Half Moon and Hermit Coves. Cut mackerel, chicken liver, and dough baits are reeling them in. The bluegill and sunfish bite has been strong particularly off the t-dock and around Siesta Point on nightcrawlers. Bass are biting from the campground shoreline and boats are having a lot of success with the bass bite. Plastics seem to be doing the trick specifically Roboworms in the morning dawn varieties.
  • It's HOT! We know it's hot and the lake water looks cool and refreshing, however we are a drinking water reservoir. Our recreation permit with the Department of Health does not allow bodily contact. To stay cool try using a moistened bandana and wear light colored clothing. Don't forget to have plenty of cold water on hand too!
  • Conditions: Because of the aeration, the water column is well mixed, with plenty of oxygen deep for fish that favor cooler temps. The current temperature is 76 degrees. New Moon is Sunday, August 8th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • Campground News: The campground shoreline is open to the public for fishing every day 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Buy a fishing permit at the campground kiosk and enjoy access to the Sentry Point shoreline. Don't forget to take a pic in the big green chair and tag us so we can load a free fishing permit on to your account!
  • We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
