Back at it again the day after the 2021 King salmon opener on the Sacramento River.  Captain Justin had a group out this morning and found another crowded morning on the river.  A lot of grass and floating moss has made the plug bite pretty dificult because of fouled lines and plugs.  Gathering moss and aquatic grasses is problematic so lets hope it clears up a bit after the shorelines get pounded with boat wakes in the next few weeks.  The second day of salmon season was productive considering all fo the factors that come into play when fishing for King salmon.  Captain Justin reports two king salmon and a hatchery steelhead today for his group.  He said the plug bite was tough with clear water and all the grass on the lines, but after switching to drifting bait later in the morning, the tough conditions were overcome and the bites began.  Salmon were seen rolling in the deeper holes and its clear that there are plenty of salmon in the system now. Thats definitely a good sign for things to come.  As this years king salmon run builds, we will see more and more salmon caught before the peak of the season in September.   As expected, the calls for salmon trips picked up today and jaynie is working hard to get everyone taken care of.  We expect to sell out of available dates again this year so calling Jaynie sooner than later is recommended if you want to fish for river Kings with us this year.  Thank you!
